Public Relations Event Promotion Campaign for Equus Workforce Solutions

The Challenge

Equus Workforce Solutions, a provider of employment and housing solutions for CalWORKs clients in north San Diego County, was hosting its first in-person event in four years. Pre-pandemic, the annual Champions celebration was Equus’ flagship event, honoring selected CalWORKs participants for their hard work and dedication to turning their lives around. The organization wanted to highlight the positive stories of their Champions and herald their return to in-person events. 

What We Delivered

Conway Marketing Group’s public relations manager worked with the Equus team to understand their prior experience with local media and build an event promotion strategy that both they and the County were comfortable with. This included securing anonymous quotes from Champions for use in potential news stories, building a targeted local media list, sending a post-event press release deployed with photos immediately after the event, and fielding media requests. 

The Results

This campaign resulted in a positive story about the event in the region’s leading local newspaper, the San Diego Union-Tribune.
